3D printing, a new industry

Additive manufacturing (commonly called 3D printing) is a new industry which allows to create physical objects out of 3D drawings. The fast rise of the desktop 3D printer can be compare to one of the personal computing. This technology is about to start a 3rd industrial revolution through which he users become designers of their own products. The production model is moving from mass production to mass customization, with new, localized, on-demand and personalized production.
